FAQs

Q: I already have an older Ciro bar clamp from a previous phone holder. Will this connect to my existing ball mount?

A: No. The GEN 2 BIG ASS® Drink Holder requires a GEN 2 compatible ball mount. It still uses a 5/8" ball, but the neck/shaft on GEN 2 mounts is longer.

Q: Where’s the best place to install the clamp?

A: Mount it on a section of bar that is as round as possible. Avoid corners and bends – the closer you get to a corner, the more oval the bar becomes. Aim for about 2"–3" away from any bend for the most secure fit.

Q: Is there rubber or plastic between the clamp and the handlebar to protect the finish?

A: No. Ciro designs the clamp to fit the bar tightly so it doesn’t move. Rubber or plastic inserts can crack, compress and eventually let the clamp come loose. Some riders try a single wrap of tape under the clamp, but it’s not recommended and won’t protect the bar the way you think it will.

Q: Will my clamp kit come with a reducer?

A: Only the 7/8"–1" and 1-1/8"–1-1/4" clamp kits include an aluminium reducer. All other clamp kits are designed to fit a single bar size only.

Q: What size ball does Ciro use for their ball-mounted accessories?

A: All Ciro ball-mounted accessories use a compact 5/8" ball and socket system.
